SNOWSHOEING
Snow is incredible. It changes everything. It hides trails, it changes slopes, it makes any familiar place look different and it does all of this with extreme beauty. If you want to go hiking in the snow, it is strongly recommended to have a good sense of direction and carry with you a map and a compass because everything looks different when it is covered with show!
BAGNO DI ROMAGNA and its thermal spas
Bagno di Romagna is a small town of 6,085 citizens located in the Savio Valley between 339 and 1,500 m.a.s.l. It is 50 km distant from Cesena and only 5 km from the Farm.
The city of Arezzo is only 66 km away from Bagno di Romagna and this explains why for a long time this town had been a place to stop and rest for the many travellers who crossed the Apennines pass from Romagna to Tuscany and vice versa.
MOUNT FUMAIOLO
Mount Fumaiolo is the highest mountain of the Apennines under the jurisdiction of Forlì-Cesena province.
The mountain is located among 3 different regions: Romagna, Marche and Tuscany, but it’s easy to reach from the Farm.
Close to it there are Mount Aquilone and Mount Comero.
RIDRACOLI DAM
The Ridracoli dam, which provides water to one million people since the 1980’s, is actually not a good example of balance between engineering and nature. Even so, it’s still a place of great interest from an architectural and a naturalistic point of view that deserves to be paid a visit for at least two reasons: the natural beauty of the surroundings and the opportunity to pass a critical eye over the environmental impact of the dam.
ALFERO WATERFALL
“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.”
Albert Einstein
ACQUACHETA WATERFALL
Among the most interesting hiking trails of National Park of the Casentino Forests you can explore during your staying, we recommend those that reach the spectacular Acquacheta waterfall.
Acquacheta is a stream in the province of Forlì-Cesena, an affluent of the Montone river that originates in the Tuscan Apennines.
REMEDIA: a natural laboratory that is woth to be discovered
Just living is not enough… one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.
Hans Christian Andersen
HORSE RIDING THROUGH THE WOODS
“In riding a horse, we borrow freedom”
Helen Thompson Woolley
When you go trekking, it happens sometimes to run into people who go horse riding and many of you have probably thought you would love to do the same.
CLIMBING
Most of the Northern part of the Apennines is made of a marl-sandstone formation, which is characterized by visible layers of rocks where the vegetation is lacking.
While sandstone can form very resistant slabs, marl is very friable and this makes it unsuitable for climbing activities.
However, thanks to ancient geological movements (around 20 million years ago), some limestone rocks have arrived to this region too. Now they are all lined-up: Mount Fumaiolo, Balze di Verghereto, San Marino, Sasso Simone and Simoncello, San Leo, Perticara, Scorticata, etc.
MOUNTAIN BIKE
Did you reach the Farm by Mountain Bike? Well, congratulations!!
If, instead, you arrived by another mean of transport, but your MB is with you, congratulations anyway because this means that for sure you have good intentions!
In both cases you only have to enjoy your Welcome Drink and soon discover thousands of trails you can run with your MB!
