HORSE RIDING THROUGH THE WOODS
“In riding a horse, we borrow freedom”
Helen Thompson Woolley
When you go trekking, it happens sometimes to run into people who go horse riding and many of you have probably thought you would love to do the same.
I believe we have a natural attraction for these amazing animals and an ancient connection in our blood that we feel again every time we see a horse.
After all, horses have shared centuries of history with the humankind and they marked its slow and relentless evolution.Nowadays we have forgot about horses and we think of them only as a weekend hobby or animals for horse racing. However, until few years ago, we used to live side by side: they would help us in agriculture, in the transport of people and goods and, unfortunately, even on the battle fields.
If you decide to go horse riding in a natural context, do it great honor, thank it and try to connect with its feelings. This way your experience will surely be authentic.
Remember that horses are the animals that more any others can read your emotions and act like a mirror with you.
Horses can really push our emotional buttons and bring to light feelings we usually try to hide. The most difficult part in interacting with horses is the management of your own emotional world.
“There is nothing so good for the inside of a man as the outside of a horse”
John Lubbock
If you are staying at the Farm and decide to take a walk on “4 long legs” or simply want to enjoy the company of these beautiful animals, we suggest you two places which are very special to us and that go way beyond common riding places.
–CA DI GIANNI: it is located in Bagno di Romagna at ten-minutes distance from the Farm. This is the perfect place for riding in a natural environment both for beginners and experienced riders.
The love and passion the owners express in taking care of their 14 beautiful horses makes a real difference compared to other riding places.

–ASVANARA: we wouldn’t recommend this place for a common day of riding because you will be allowed to ride a horse only after having spent some time with it. However, if you are willing to discover something more on human-horse relationship, on the psychology of this majestic animals and especially on YOURS, then this is the right place for you.
AsvaNara is a Sanskrit word that literally means “HorseHuman”.
The project of Ariane and Edwin, owners of AsvaNara, is to teach a true and deep knowledge of horses and their language in order to develop a natural relationship based on mutual trust and respect between human and horses.
AsvaNara is located in Pieve Santo Stefano, at around 30 km from the Farm. For further information:
