Incontri autentici con il territorio: l’alta Valle del Savio
La Fattoria dell’Autosufficienza is a pearl set in an area of great natural beauty, in that hinterland of Romagna at the crossroads of paths, where every valley has always echoed the song of its river.
How you can help us growing
For La Fattoria dell’Autosufficienza these are years of construction, experimentation and research in order to turn a project into reality.
As for all projects, the initial phase is the one that requires more energies, time, work, money and organisational skills.
Visit La Fattoria dell’Autosufficienza
Entering barefoot in the farmhouse it will be possible to see the lime-hemp and raw earth plasters, the large flame-shaped stube (stove), the microcapillary wall system, the furniture made of natural wood and, in general, a class A building built with only natural materials.
Indian Park “IL SALICE”
Believe it or not, in San Piero in Bagno on the shores of Lake Lungo, in a beautiful natural setting, among lakes and woods of oaks, beech and chestnut trees, there is a real Indian park!
A place where nature and spirit get together.
LAKE PONTINI AND LAKE LUNGO
Lake Pontini (748 m asl) and Lake Lungo (616 m asl) were formed following a huge landslide which broke off on February 15th 1855 from San Cataldo, on the north-west side of Mount Còmero. Its slow fall, destroyed about fifty houses, then reached the Savio river, where it temporarily obstructied the course.
San Piero in Bagno
Located in the valley floor, along the river Savio and the European Road E/45, San Piero in Bagno is part of the municipality of Bagno di Romagna, a small town with construction, forestry, metallurgical and clothing activities, along with services, restaurants, hotels and facilities for leisure and sport.
Built in the thirteenth century as “market” for the castle of Corzano, the town developed especially under the long domination of the Republic of Florence and even today the Wednesday market is still a place for meeting, exchanging and chatting for all the inhabitants of the area and the surrounding valleys.
THE NATIONAL PARK OF THE CASENTINO FORESTS, MONTE FALTERONA AND CAMPIGNA
Close to the Farm and between Romagna and Tuscany, we find one of the most beautiful green areas in Europe: The National Park of the Casentino Forests, Monte Falterona and Campigna.
It measures 36,000 hectares and includes woods, rivers, birds, archaeological sites, mammals, flowers, rocks, waterfalls, crests, valley and spiritual places. It’s a protected area among the provinces of Forlì-Cesena, Arezzo and Florence.
The millenary HOLY HERMITAGE OF CAMALDOLI
The monastic settlement of Camaldoli was founded 1000 years ago by Saint Romuald, who chose this place surrounded by thick firs forests as a place for retreat and mediation.
The care of the wood was so important that it was included among the rules of the religious order. In 1012 the Benedictin monk founded in Campo Amabile the current Hermitage of Camaldoli, the first 5 cells and a small oratory. In the following year he re-arranged an existing building to be used as accommodations that is the current monastery of Camaldoli.
THE SANCTUARY OF LA VERNA
The Sanctuary of La Verna or Mt. Penna if we use the geographical name, is such a special place that it cannot be left out from your hiking trails within the National Park of the Casentino Forests.
Along with the Holy Hermitage of Camaldoli, it is one of the main spiritual and religious places of the area.
